Female Five Million: Breaking the Silence on Abuse, One Story at a Time
Female Five Million is a movement dedicated to exposing the realities of male-to-female abuse and proving, without question, that no level of abuse is acceptable.

Through photography, storytelling, exhibitions, and education, this initiative is challenging the silence that allows abuse to thrive.

A Movement Born from a Need to Speak Out Against Female Violence
Female Five Million began as a reaction to the countless ways women are told to shrink—to stay quiet, to conform, to tolerate.
It has since grown into a powerful platform amplifying the voices of women who have experienced abuse of any kind and at any level.
"This is about more than just telling stories," says Wendy Gannon, founder of Female Five Million. "It’s about showing women and girls that what they’ve been through matters, that no one should have to endure it, and that there is a way forward."
Through striking visual storytelling, in-depth conversations, and thought-provoking exhibitions, Female Five Million is creating space for difficult but necessary conversations—ensuring that no woman or girl feels invisible in her experience.

Why This Matters
Abuse isn’t always loud. It doesn’t always leave bruises. It is often slow, insidious, and hidden behind respectability. Many women don’t even realise they are in an abusive situation until they are deep inside it.

Female Five Million seeks to change that by:
-
Raising Awareness: Helping women and girls recognise the many forms of abuse.
-
Breaking the Silence: Creating a platform where survivors can speak openly, free from shame or fear.
-
Building Community: Ensuring no woman feels alone in her experience.

Driving Real-World Change: Encouraging better education, support systems, and protections for those at risk through collaboration, in-school workshops and nation-wide media campaigns.

The movement is committed to reaching five million women and girls—not just as a number, but as a measurable shift in awareness and action. Success will be seen in:
-
Increased public conversations and education around abuse.
-
More women recognising abusive patterns before they escalate.
-
Greater access to resources and support networks.
-
Policy and cultural shifts that prioritise women’s safety and autonomy.
